Did you know that many of our day-to-day practices come from time immemorial? The Romans were a decisive people for many of the traditions of Portuguese culture and today we bring you to know three curiosities that we inherited from them.
1 - Aqueducts

2 - Arches and Vaults

The arches and vaults are apparently beautiful and delicate structures that only give a more balanced design to the spaces. But not only that. Arches reduce construction costs by allowing larger spans and fewer materials, in addition to being easily replicated through wooden forms, which proves, once again, the genius of the Romans.
3 - Roads

Roman roads were vital physical infrastructures for the maintenance and development of the Roman state. Their structure and consistency were so well orchestrated that many of them remain intact to this day.
